The 'Nevermore' series: seasonal, limited-release, small batch beers. An opportunity for us to experiment and explore the wild frontiers of beer 🤙
We've collated our 4 latest Nevermore brews to bring you a taste of the seasons: Late Summer, Early Winter, Late Winter & Pre Spring in one mixed pack!
☀️ Late-Summer Nevermore Tepache de Piña
Late Summer is Melbourne’s hottest and driest season, so this release is all about quenching your thirst. Inspired by the naturally fermented sweet-and-sour Mexican drink “Tepache De Piña” (AKA Pineapple Beer) this beer uses a unique lactic acid yeast as well as a Danish farmhouse strain to ferment a light base of ale malt and pineapple juice and to provide acidity, fruity esters and a hint of funk.
🍂 Early-Winter Nevermore Black on Black Imperial Oatmeal Stout
To celebrate the changing of the seasons we brewed a “double” version of our 4.5% Oatmeal Stout “Black”, dialling it up to 8% and to make it even more special we’ve included a portion of Ethiopian Black Barley, grown and malted by Voyager to “Munich” spec for rich nutty and biscuit flavours, as well as “roast” spec to provide colour and strong dark chocolate and coffee notes.
🌧 Late Winter Nevermore Hello Dankness WCIPA
An interesting observation we’ve made over the years is that Aussies like drinking IPA in winter. Is it the antidepressant action of hops countering the lack of sun, or the warming effect of alcohol staving off the cold nights? Whatever it is, the lead up to late winter is also one of the best times for us to celebrate the bounty of new season hops.
🌤 Pre-Spring Nevermore Old & Husky Dark Chocolate Old Ale
This Old Ale has been brewed with Mörk Chocolate Cacao Husk, in a process of upcycling and repurposing some of the components of the chocolate making, which still as plenty of flavour and character to give. It was then blended with barrel aged imperial stout and Solera Stock Ale for aged character and nuanced complexity.
